2021 - Foundation & launch
- BoxWay Packaging Group established in June 2021 through the acquisition of three UK sheet plants in Exeter, Peterlee and Telford.
- Previous site ownership included Bowater/Rexam, SCA and SAICA, reflecting decades of manufacturing heritage across the operations.
- Business launched under CEO Andrew Woollard as an independent, design-led corrugated packaging manufacturer.
- National manufacturing footprint established from day one across three UK production sites.
- Entered a rapidly evolving post-Covid packaging market, supporting growing demand from e-commerce, retail and industrial sectors.
- Initial investment made into systems, production infrastructure and design capability to integrate operations across all sites.
- Dedicated in-house design departments established across the manufacturing operations.
2022 - Investment & capability expansion
- Multi-site investment programme launched across Exeter and Peterlee.
- Major production upgrades introduced, including digital print technology, die-cutting equipment and speciality gluing systems.
- Major IT and infrastructure upgrades introduced, including software, hardware and SPOCS system enhancements.
- New design software implemented to strengthen structural packaging development capability.
- Improvements increased production flexibility and supported shorter, more agile manufacturing runs.
- Customer base expanded across e-commerce, food, retail and industrial sectors.
- Design-led packaging capability further strengthened across both sites.
- Operational structure refined to support long-term growth and efficiency.


2023 - Transformation & growth
- Two-year investment programme completed across both UK manufacturing sites, with approximately £3 million invested in machinery, infrastructure, IT systems and software.
- Production capability significantly expanded across digital and flexographic print.
- Strategic partnership established with Reproflex3 to enhance print innovation and capability in Peterlee.
- Strategic operational restructuring completed following the consolidation of production operations into Exeter and Peterlee.
- New delivery vehicle fleet introduced to strengthen logistics and customer service capability.
- BoxWay strengthened its position as a leading independent corrugated packaging manufacturer.
- Increased capacity enabled support for both short-run and large-scale production requirements.
2024 - Sustainability, structure & recognition
- New operational and commercial structure introduced to support continued growth.
- Group sales leadership and site management teams strengthened across the business.
- New plant leadership structure introduced with dedicated site directors focused on quality, service and operational performance.
- External sales team expanded with additional business development recruitment.
- BoxWay achieved Five Star Best Practice Health & Safety Accreditation from the Sheet Plant Association in July 2024.
- Continued development of sustainable and plastic-free packaging solutions.
- Growth supported across e-commerce and direct-to-consumer packaging markets.
- Ongoing innovation in corrugated design and structural packaging solutions.


2025 - Product innovation & efficiency
- Enhanced packaging sealing systems introduced, including tear-strip solutions.
- Continued focus on improving product protection in transit and enhancing the customer unboxing experience.
- Ongoing commitment to fully recyclable corrugated packaging solutions.
- Operational efficiency and customer experience remained a key business focus.
- Continued investment in leadership and operational expertise across manufacturing operations.
- EcoVadis Silver rating achieved in March 2025 in recognition of BoxWay’s sustainability performance and environmental commitments.
2026 - Sustainability & 5-year milestone
- Environmental Management System aligned to ISO 14001 standards implemented across operations.
- Sustainability framework formalised to support long-term environmental commitments.
- Continued focus on corrugated case manufacturing, display packaging and food and non-food sectors.
- Workforce expanded to more than 70 employees.
- EcoVadis Bronze rating achieved in January 2026, placing BoxWay within the top 35% of businesses globally as assessment standards and competition levels continued to increase.
- Continued sustainability improvements underway as BoxWay works towards regaining EcoVadis Silver status.
- BoxWay Packaging Group celebrates its 5-year anniversary in June 2026.
